DEATH.....

Nor dread nor hope attend
A dying animal;
A man awaits his end
Dreading and hoping all;
Many times he died,
Many times rose again.
A great man in his pride
Confronting murderous men
Casts derision upon
Supersession of breath;
He knows death to the bone
Man has created death.

William Butler Yeats 1865-1939

Words that melted into your photography. In my opinion, it came even close to being able to 'be tasted'.

I like the decay and treatment. Another atmospheric image. Not sure about Yeats.......A man born after his time in my opinion.

I Loved it! loved it! soooooooo loved it! .......Perfect amalgamation of two forms of art- poetry and photography....Though death to me is like a fantasy , pure and sacred. As for souls it's a endless cycle.....life never stops.

Thanks for your comments - This style of atmospheric image is the style of photography I prefer working on.I really enjoy the work of Simon Marsden.
As for Yeats you probably have a good point - seemed to blend with the image though.

Hi Bhags
Nice comments - thank you.
Have a really good weekend.

Sepia photo matches to the words so well. Death is mysterious and beyond understanding since no live human can experience.
Have a wonderful weekend.

It sounds and looks truely peaceful! Sepia tone has that wonderful effect sometimes.

I don't believe in " Man has created death". It is God that has created both Life and Death.

In Life there's both Hope and Fear. Death inspires us only with fear because it's so final, so absolute.

The tombstone in your picture perfectly portrays the finality and absoluteness of Death.

This one had a warm feeling in the decay. Despite everything.

Thanks everyone for your kind and interesting comments. The comments regarding sepia are similar to my own thoughts as I always feel it adds to the image of time passing - death and decay.
I wish you all a tranquil and peaceful week.

Again thank you for your comments. You view and feelings about life and death are really interesting.

As I am a Buddhist, my own thoughts on life and death are very different from that shown in the photo and the words of William Yeats - It is just a genre and style that I enjoy working within photographically speaking.

I hope you have a week of peace and tranquillity.

Well, I think that Death is part of our life, we don't have to understand it, to like it or to explain it.... because is here, somewhere, anyway! ha ha
Like you, from time to time , I have my walk in cemetery to face it! ha ha ...
Wonderful image!
My regards!

Beautiful - horrible picture. Meanwhile in Cairo, to build houses dead. In the city of the dead in Cairo between the tombs and graves of life goes. Egyptian poor with the dead... as neighbors. Incomprehensible.
